On Friday, June 14, 2019, Southeastern Institute Columbia hosted its annual spring commencement ceremony to honor the more than 100 students who earned their degrees during the 2019-29 school year. Nearly 75 graduates crossed the stage in an intimate ceremony which culminated with the conferral of degrees by Campus President Janet Clark.
The night was highlighted by City of Columbia, SC, Councilwoman Tameika Issac Devine who served as the evening’s commencement speaker. Issac Devine asked the graduates to cherish the moment but reminded them to keep their eyes on the future.
“Be proud of your accomplishments but never stop setting goals,” Issac Devine said. “Let yourself graduate every single year. Remember the feeling you have today because it will drive you.”
The students were represented by valedictorian Sally Farmer, a retired South Carolina State Trooper, who earned her certificate in Professional Clinical Massage Therapy. Farmer discussed how even though the graduates come from different programs, they all share the desire to serve on the front line of helping mankind.
Karletta Littlejohn was the class of 2019’s salutation. Littlejohn earned her certificate in Pharmacy Technology.
