Southeastern Institute continued their legacy of giving during the 2019 holiday season. Southeastern campuses in Charlotte, N.C., and Columbia, S.C., joined forces with local charities to brighten the holidays for families throughout South Florida.

The Miami Lakes campus kicked off the giving season in November by partnering with HOPE Outreach Center to provide Thanksgiving meals for families in need. In all, the campus donated 400 lbs. of food and more than $200 so that seven families could enjoy a Thanksgiving meal.

In November, Southeastern Institute Charlotte raised more than $3000 for Loaves & Fishes of Charlotte Mecklenburg, a 501(c)(3) organization with a goal of providing nutritionally balanced groceries to individuals and families who are in a short-term crisis. The donation was raised by various efforts of the campus community over the last three months.

The Charlotte campus remined in the giving spirit in December by holding a canned food drive to replenish the campus’s campus food pantry. Southeastern Institute Charlotte’s food pantry anonymously provides food items to students and their families. The campus also hosted a giving tree for students in need which included anonymous donations of clothes, diapers, bikes, food and gas cards.

Throughout December, Southeastern Institute Columbia partnered with The Palmetto Project and Families Helping Families to support a Columbia-area family for Christmas. Students and staff donated new items so the family of seven would have gifts under the tree on Christmas morning.
